An Australian firm has discovered a rare mineral resource Nickel, that could turn Nigeria’s economic fortunes around – The mineral resource, a 90 per cent nickel was discovered at Dangoma in the north-west state of Kaduna state – Owner of the Australian firm, Huge Morgan says the federal government is in the best position to announce the discovery.
Uses of Nickel.
It is extensively used for making stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant alloys such as Invar(R), Monel(R), Inconel(R), and the Hastelloys(R). Tubing made of copper-nickel alloy is extensively used in making desalination plants for converting sea water into fresh water.
According to reports that in 2015 a pound of nickel cost $5 and it keeps rising every year, also predicted that bumpy 2019 it will be $11 to a pound.
