The ongoing Nigeria Universities Games took another dimension on Tuesday when some athletes expressed fear that the competition may be extended beyond the planned date.
According to the NUGA Local Organising Committee, the games is planned to hold between February 12 to 22 with all games taking place at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Some of the athletes, who commended the facilities provided for the games, feared that poor planning and organization may make the games get extension.
But the LOC Chairman of the 24th edition of NUGA, Prof. Bayo Amole, in an interview said there was no plan for extension.According to the NUGA Local Organising Committee, the games is planned to hold between February 12 to 22 with all games taking place at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

He assured participants of improved officiating, saying measured have been put in place to ensure standard between the athletes and the officials.
He said, “If NUGA is going to be postponed, I should be the first person to hear about it. So, I doubt if anything like that is in shape, I don’t know, I don’t think so, we can’t keep teams beyond the planned date without informing them.
“I have not heard about poor officiating. Officiating officials not being able to speak English Language is not an unusual thing in Nigeria sport. Look at the World Cup too; we have referees who speak different language.
