NUGA Games: Uniport's Okokofezibe Wins First Gold and Sister Claims Silver

Gabde Okokofezibe of the University of Port-Harcourt on Monday won the first gold medal of the ongoing 24th edition of the NUGA Games at the Obafemi Awolowo, University, Ile-Ife. Gabde hit gold in the women's 200 metres backstroke swimming competition. The silver went to the 22-year-old Gabde's twin sister, Doutimi, also from the University of Port-Harcourt. Eyong Emmanuel had put UNICAL ahead in the 18th minute, while Olanrewaju Agboola equalised for OAU in the 75th minute. The OAU team had relatively had an easy ride over the EKSU side 4-1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State University (EBSU) defeated the OAU volleyball team 20-16, while the Kogi State University (KSU) spanked the female handball team of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye with 18-0.
