As the ongoing Nigeria Universities Games in Obafemi Awolowo University continues, Federal Universities performance outshine that of their state counterparts in the games.
Among the sports which Federal Universities emerged top are Swimming, Squash, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Volleyball among others.
However, state universities including - Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Kogi State University, and Ekiti State University also clinched win in some games.
Both State and Federal Universities shared the winnings in Volley Ball with LAUTECH and Kogi State University defeating their opponents’.

Except from KOSU, and LAUTECH, other state universities lost in Handball, while
ABU won Gold Medal in Taekwondo.
While Federal University of Technology, Minna, ABU, University of Jos; AAUA shine in Basketball, Delta
State University and UNIPORT qualified to the Semi Final Stage of Lawn Tennis.
In Hockey, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University of Technology, Owerri and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta won while University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University drew. UNILAG also defeated FUNAAB with 38 runs and 5 wickets at hand.
University of Port-Harcourt since the start of the competition won bagged gold medals and silver in all the categories in swimming.
While University of Ibadan got bronze in Female Medley Relay Final, 200 metres freestyle (men) and backstroke; University of Ilorin and NAU had bronze in 200 meter freestyle (female) and 100 meter butterfly (men).
FUNAB and ABU also clinched a win in Table Tennis (male), while the final between Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba and Nnamdi Azikiwe University was postponed.
Federal universities also dominated the medal table for Badminton with University of Ilorin; University of Maiduguri; OAU; UNIBEN, Bayero University Kano; UNIZIK and UNILAG winning in Table Tennis. Adamawa State University and Kwara State University won in the male and female categories of Tennis respectively
