The Nigeria Football Federation has terminated the appointment of Stephen Keshi as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The National team ex-coach was after it was reported that he had replied to replace Herve Renard as the manager of the Cote d'Ivore. the Big Boss denied that he was actively seeking out new employers, protesting that his name had been submitted without his knowing.
Perhaps his objections might have been enough to have saved his skins, maybe the NFF could have given him the benefit of the doubt, had his name removed form the Ivorian shortlist, and the whole situation could have been dealt with differently.
The NFF Executive Committee on Saturday said this decision was made, "having thoroughly reviewed the reports/findings of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and NFF Technical and development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of this duties as Super Eagles's Head Coach, which we found to lack the required commitment to achieve the Federation's objectives as set out in the Coach's employment contract'.
"In the Interim, The team affairs will be managed by the Assistant Coach, Sailisa Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by the Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new Head Coach, who along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible particpation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country," said Akinwunmi.
