of contagious diseases.
Integrated diseases surveillance programme (IDSP) in-charge Dr GL Sodhi confirmed death of a man and a woman due to swine
flu. They are the first two victims of the disease in Madhya Pradesh this year.
The 39-year-old woman, a resident of Chhavni, was first to be tested H1N1 positive on January 6.
"She was admitted to Gokuldas Hospital and later to Bombay Hospital. But she succumbed to the flu while she was being
shifted to MY Hospital," said Sodhi adding that patient had earlier visited Nashik. Her health started deteriorating after she
returned from there.
"Another 35-year-old male patient, a resident of Badnagar in Ujjain district, succumbed to the disease at Aurobindo Hospital. He
was tested positive among the six, whose samples were sent on January 10," said Lodhi.
Joint director (health) Dr Sharad Pandit said change in climatic condition is the reason due to which the virus has started
spreading its tentacles.
"We have directed all the hospitals to prepare an isolated ward and be ready for any emergency situation," said Dr Pandit adding
